The new Mk 5 Work Class LARS designed to deploy the Saab Seaeye Jaguar , Sub Atlantic Comanche & Perry Slingsby XLR
A single skid based launch system complete with A-frame, electro hydraulic power pack and winch. An A-frame outreach type LARS with an extension which adds up to another metre of reach and allows vertical lift of the TMS & ROV from the skid base giving a total of 4 metres outreach.
The LARS is designed to launch the ROV off a ship or oil platform.
The overall size of the LARS has been carefully configured to ensure that it is transportable by road without escort*. The erection and stowage of the A-frame is ram operated and collapses down further to reduce the height for transportation.
MK5 LARS
Capability The Mk5 LARS has rating options of Safe Area, Zone 2 or ATEX for areas where hazardous explosive atmospheres may be present, often required by the oil & gas industry.
Capacity at present is 1600m, larger capabilities available on request.
Design Features
Functional design features have been included to assist with the maintenance, repair and tooling of the ROV.
A lift on platform can be fitted to either side of the LARS enabling the ROV to be removed from the TMS for maintenance.
To compensate for the weight of the ROV, the side option work platform has a removable hand winch to pull the ROV out of the TMS for work or maintenance, or tooling to be added or removed.
The hand winch is then moved to the opposite side of the skid to move the ROV back
into the TMS.
* Two days notice is required to be given to the Police for loads between 3 and 5 metres, but an escort is not required.
